Aquaculture is developing at a pace that existing meeting places are no longer equipped to support. The industry is facing increasing demands for exhibition capacity, professional infrastructure, and an internationally relevant arena for technology, policy, and collaboration. In response, Norwegian Promotion Group AS (NPG) and AqKva AS are launching Global Aqua – a new international exhibition and conference designed to bring together the stakeholders shaping the future of aquaculture.
Global Aqua will be hosted at Nova Spektrum in Oslo. The venue has been selected for its modern infrastructure, scalable exhibition capacity, and proximity to key political and professional decision-making environments. This provides a robust foundation for an international arena capable of supporting advanced technology showcases, high-level professional exchange, and complex, cross-disciplinary dialogue.
An Industry in Transition Requires An Industry in Transition Requires New Frameworks Frameworks
The global aquaculture industry is undergoing significant transformation. The introduction of new species, rapid technological advancement, increasingly stringent environmental and sustainability requirements, and sustained growth in global seafood demand are collectively redefining the industry’s needs. As a result, there is a growing requirement for a meeting place with strong professional credibility, political relevance, and genuine international reach.
“The industry has evolved more rapidly than the arenas designed to serve it,” says Hans Runshaug, CEO of AqKva AS. “This development calls for a platform that reflects the industry’s ambitions, challenges established formats, and facilitates discussion at a truly global level.”
Global Aqua has been established to address these needs – both for the current state of the industry and its continued development in the years ahead.
A Platform Designed to Advance the Industry
Global Aqua will combine a world-class international exhibition with a high-level strategic and professional conference. The arena will bring together producers, technology and solution providers, research institutions, policymakers, and capital providers to exchange knowledge, evaluate solutions, and support informed decision-making for the future of aquaculture.
“Global Aqua is intended to be global in scope, quality, and influence,” says Lars Vegar Furset, Chief Operating Officer of NPG. “Our ambition is to establish a meeting place that contributes meaningfully to shaping the next phase of international aquaculture development.”
Ambition: Setting a New Standard for International Aquaculture Events
Global Aqua aims to attract more than 600 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from across the world. The event will represent a broad range of species and production models, reflecting the full diversity of the global aquaculture ecosystem – well beyond traditional Norwegian salmon and trout production. The long-term objective is to establish Global Aqua as a leading international arena where technology, policy, research, and capital converge to support the development of solutions required to deliver healthy, sustainable, and responsibly produced seafood on a global scale.
